How can one return to society when one is seventy, after spending half a century in prison ? Bank robber Alberto Maron wants to try. Almost 50 years of Alberto’s life are linked to escapes, protests and transgressions. Even today he doesn’t appear resigned – there’s still some impatience and a childish pride in all of his violations of the system. He doesn’t look like a bad person but it’s hard to imagine him as a functioning part of society. Yet Alberto plans to settle down once he is released. Italian documentary filmmaker Manuel Coser examines whether Alberto has a chance of finding peace or if he’ll inevitably relapse into crime. The black-and-white film doesn’t ask any clear questions, nor does it offer specific answers. It just tracks a non-conformist individual trying to find his place in the world, even at an advanced age. (One World)
