More of a musical crime story than a straight song-and-danceathon, AFTER THE DANCE features George Murphy as Jerry Davis, a man who was convicted of a crime he didn't commit. After he escapes jail and is taken in by hoofer Anne Taylor (Nancy Carroll), the pair decide to combine their talents and eventually become a minor league Astaire and Rogers. Just as they are approaching the acme of success, however, Jerry's jealous ex-partner (Jack LaRue) turns him in to the cops. The authorities tell the dancer that, innocent or not, he still has two more years to serve, but if he promises to be a good boy they won't tack on any extra slammer time. Anne decides she'll wait for Jerry. Murphy could always shake a mean tap shoe and his dancing with Carroll is worth watching. (texte officiel du distributeur)
