Biographie

In 2015, Ben Platt starred in Dear Evan Hansen, the original world-premiere musical debuting at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. Platt can also be seen alongside Meryl Streep in the feature film Ricki and the Flash.

Platt made his Broadway debut as Elder Cunningham in Broadway's famed production of The Book of Mormon, in which The New York Times called his performance "sensational." He first originated the role of Elder Cunningham to critical acclaim in the show's Chicago production, for which he won a 2013 BroadwayWorld Chicago Award for Best Actor in a Touring Production. In 2014, Platt sold out his first solo cabaret show at the popular New York City venue 54 Below.

No stranger to theater, Platt starred in the reading of Ben Andron's Breaking Bobby Stone, directed by Peter Scolari. His national tour credits include Caroline, or Change, directed by George C. Wolfe and Tony Kushner. Platt's regional-theater tour credits include Joe Iconis' The Black Suits at Barrington Stage Company; Stephen Belber's The Power of Duff at New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater; Sidney Kingsley's Dead End at the Ahmanson Theatre; The Music Man; Mame; Camelot; and The Sound of Music at the Hollywood Bowl. Workshops and readings include Steven Sater's Murder at the Gates, directed by Peter DuBois; Sater and Duncan Shiek's Alice By Heart; Irma La Douce, directed by Rob Ashford, which starred Katie Holmes; and The Bridges of Madison County, directed by Bartlett Sher.
