Biographie

He was Born 1968 in Hannover, Germany. After he studied acting at the Otto Falkenberg School in Munich, he was part of the ensemble at the Münchner Kammerspiele for two years. His first roles in cinema he played in Winter Sleepers and Run Lola Run by Tom Tykwer.

In 1998 he had his debut as writer and director with the comedy Gigantic, which became a real cult movie and won several awards like the Silver Lola. After furthermore film roles, he released his second feature A Friend of Mine starring the famous German actors Daniel Brühl and Jürgen Vogel. His third feature Sometime in August with Marie Bäumer and Milan Peschel run at Berlinale 2009 as opening film of the Forum section. In the following years Sebastian concentrated on acting. He celebrated great successes with his leading role in the feature Three by Tom Tykwer and by playing a part in the Hamburg Tatort series. With his fourth film Victoria he is also producer for the first time—beside of being author and director. The film made quite furor at the 65 Berlinale, won a Silver Bear, following by six German Film Awards (among Best Film and Best Director), three European Film Award nominations and gained a lot of international attention.
