Jennifer Baichwal est née à Montréal et a grandi à Victoria, en Colombie britannique. Son premier documentaire, Let it Come Down : The Life of Paul Bowles, fut projeté pour la première fois au Festival international du film de Toronto en 1998 et remporta l’oscar international du meilleur documentaire sur l’art en 1999.
