Fernando Pérez

Biographie

He began working at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry in 1962, where he has spent his entire career as a filmmaker. He has taught at the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños. He received the Goya Award for La vida es silbar as best Ibero-American film in 2000 and the Sundance Institute Award, as well as the Flaiano Award for best foreign film exhibited in Italy. His film Suite Habana opened the 2003 San Sebastian Festival and was nominated for Goya awards in the categories of best documentary and best Ibero- American film. His feature films have been commercially released in Switzerland, Germany and other countries in Europe, America and Asia. He has been a jury member at multiple international film festivals and events. In 2007, he received the National Cinematography Award in Cuba.
