Biographie

Lamberto Avellana has the distinction of being the first artist to be named National Artist of the Philippines, for his merits as a film and theater director. He directed more than 70 films in a career that spanned more than six decades. Among his films are Sakay (1939), Anak Dalita (1956), Badjao (1956) or A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino (1965).
