After working as a model for several years, Shawn Yue starred in several movies and gained fame from his role in 'Leaving Sorrowly' (2001). He continued to appear in popular, high-profile films like 'Just One Look' and 'Infernal Affairs, I, II and III' where he played Tony Leung's character at a younger age. 2005 was also a great year for Shawn Yue with Initial D. His portrayal of a very popular Japanese comic book character managed to leave a deep impression on the viewers' hearts, especially in Japan, where this has resulted directly in many new Japanese fans for Yue.
