Biographie

Mad about photography, Juan Diego Solanas began his career as an assistant to Félix Monti, the cameraman who worked with his father, Fernando E. Solanas, also an Argentine director, before taking over himself as director of photography on La nube (The Cloud), helmed by his father. After a time working on advertising, in 2001 he directed his first short film, L’homme sans tête, and in 2005, his first feature film, Nordeste (Northeast), presented in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Festival. In 2012 he returned behind the camera to direct Kirsten Dunst in Upside Down (2012). La ola verde (Que sea ley) (The Green Wave [Let it Be Law]), his third feature film, was presented as a special screening during the Cannes Festival.
