Josh O’Connor s’est formé à la Bristol Old Vic Theatre School et a été acclamé par la critique pour ces rôles au cinéma, à la télévision et au théâtre. Il est également un artiste exposé et un photographe accompli. O’Connor a été nommé Star of Tomorrow dans Screen International en 2016 et a ensuite reçu un Golden Globe, un Critics’ Choice Award et deux British Independent Film Awards.
