The Israeli director Michal Vinik attended Tel Aviv University, where she first studied screenwriting before graduating with a master's in directing. Her short film Bait (2009) had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. Her multi award-winning debut feature film Barash (2015) screened at more than 70 international festivals. In addition to her work as a director, Vinik also teaches directing and screenwriting at Tel Aviv University. Her second feature-length fiction film Valeria Is Getting Married had its world premiere at Venice.
