João Paulo Miranda directed, in 2015, the short film Command Action, selected for the Semaine de la Critique at the Festival de Cannes, to which he returned in 2016, this time to the short film competition, with The Girl Who Danced with the Devil, which received a Special Jury Mention. His short film Meninas Formicida (2017) was selected for the Orizzonti section at Venice Festival. Casa de antiguidades (Memory House), his first feature film, was selected for Films in Progress 37 in Toulouse, where it won the European Distributors and Exhibitors Award, and is part of the official selection for Cannes 2020, cancelled due to covid-19.
