Biographie

Zdeněk Seydl (1916–1978) was a versatile artist, graphic and stage designer and also a filmmaker. He first studied typography then went to study at the Academy of AAD in Prague. He mastered the art of graphics and was also engaged in illustration and puppet and cartoon films – he collaborated on the films of Břetislav Pojar and Jiří Brdečka. Together with Ludvík Kadleček he directed the short films Give-n-Take (Ber-dej, 1970) and Hocus Pocus (Hokus Pokus, 1971). Not only did he work on a number of books as an illustrator, but also wrote books for children. He also worked for the National Theatre as a stage designer.
