Biographie

Damien Manivel started his artistic career as a dancer before turning to cinema. After studying at Le Fresnoy, he directed several award-winning shorts, including La dame au chien (The Lady with the Dog, 2010), winner of the Jean Vigo Prize. He has produced and directed four feature films: Un jeune poète (A Young Poet, 2014) recipient of a special mention in the Cinéastes du Présent section of the Locarno Festival; Le parc (The Park), presented within the Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema (ACID) programme at Cannes; La nuit ou j’ai nagé (The Night I Swam, 2017), co-directed with Kohei Igarashi, a participant in Orizzonte at the Venice Festival and in Zabaltegi - Tabakalera at San Sebastian; and Les enfants d’Isadora (Isadora’s Children), Best Director award winner at the Locarno Festival.
