Biographie

Bong Joon-ho debuted as a director with Flandersui gae (Barking Dogs Never Bite, 2000), which competed in San Sebastian Festival’s Official Selection, as did his second film, Salinui chueok (Memories of Murder, 2003), winner of the Silver Shell for Best Director and of the New Directors Award. Gwoemul (The Host, 2006), presented in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Festival, to which he returned in 2009, this time included in Un Certain Regard, with Mother. Completing his filmography are Snowpiercer (2013), Okja (2017), with which he competed at Cannes, and Gisaengchung (Parasite), Cannes´ winner of the Golden Shell. He was a member of the Official Jury in San Sebastian in 2009.
