Critiques (3 462)

Sans mobile apparent (1971)

anglais A good French crime flick with a murderer whom you don’t get to see until the very last moments. It’s a pity that it’s so incredibly impartial and completely bereft of any emotions. For instance, Trintignant is a very interesting actor character, but once he’s walking on set, investigating without any movement of his mimic muscles, it’s not really that great. Especially so in a French crime movie, as those are usually literally based on emotions.

Sans un bruit (2018)

anglais A great idea which sweetened the horror waters of the year 2018. A movie where there is little talking, because it’s set in a dystopian world with an extraterrestrial civilization that destroys everything that speaks aloud. There is a whole array of logical errors, but the simplicity and originality overshadow the contents. The suspense is literally spouting from the movie and the married couple Emily Blunt and John Karsinski are truly enjoying this family horror drama. Just like the viewer, after all. Only from a slightly different perspective.

Santa & Cie (2017)

anglais Not even the deluge of ideas that Alain Chabat has there is enough to secure the full enjoyment for the viewer. Personally I expected that it would be crazy from the beginning till the end considering it is a Christmas comedy by Alain Chabat. But it only has its crazy moments occasionally and the result isn’t anything exceptional. It is a pity. It wouldn’t even occur to me that after Asterix and Rrrrr! this would be his most “normal” movie.

Sanyangeui sigan (2020)

anglais The Koreans got off to a flying start. I didn’t really grow fond of that bunch of idiots, but the robbery was great. Then one thing followed other in a fast pace, developing the way you would expect it to. And I wasn’t offended by any means. And I still felt the properly dark and tense atmosphere typical for Korean thrillers, which the boys and girls from this peninsula are so good at creating. I must say that I was quite satisfied with the overall result.

Saturnin (1994)

anglais I don’t know why Saturnin isn’t talked about more. Each scene came with a catchphrase. And on top of that the beautiful, kind humor, which I miss a lot in contemporary Czech films. Intelligent, unobtrusive, fun. Near the end, you could however see that it’s easy for viewers to get too much of it so I was glad for an equally unobtrusive conclusion.

Sausage Party (2016)

anglais If it were a funny politically incorrect animated movie, I would definitely appreciate it. But Seth Rogen should not have been smoking weed so much the whole time writing the script. Some scenes are funny, but I would probably have to be stoned as well to start laughing in most cases. Disgusting stuff alternates with perversion. It is not funny and there is only one real breaking point in the end of the movie, but even that could be appreciated only by someone as perverted as Marquis de Sade. And only if that pervert was a sausage in a US convenience store so he can understand the main characters in this film – sausages in the US convenience store.

Saving face (2004)

anglais A very nice and pleasant movie that confronts two completely opposite worlds. Two Chinese friends and New York. Both sides are very confused and that brings up a lot of comical situations. An unaffected movie that ends the way it started in many regards – without a single memorable scene, but with a nice smile on my face.

Saxána a Lexikon kouzel (2011) Boo !

anglais I actually watched Little Witch on a Broomstick in stages over Christmas, when it was on. It actually wasn’t even my intention to watch it, I guess you could say it was fate. I didn’t want to watch it, but since it was already on, I didn’t change the channel. It was clear to me that the movie would end up getting a Boo! review from me, but I had no idea of just how bad the movie really was. I really respect Mr. Vorlíček and I really like his work. But why the hell would he make the effort to make a movie like this? In my opinion, it was a waste of time and even Saxana now suffers from a sophomore slump. The combination of the cartoon and the live part is terrible. I am not saying the animation is completely bad, it’s more that the parts don’t really fit together at all. It’s utter nonsense. I don’t know about kids, but I would get really lost in the beginning of the movie because there really is nothing to hold on to. And all those bits stolen from various other movies which were incorporated in the story? That’s almost disgusting for me.

Scandale (2019)

anglais Because I’m not American, I have never heard about that host who went against Trump in her show while the whole nation was watching. So the film barely aroused my interest. The thing I enjoyed was looking at Margot, Nicole a Charlize. And I’m not talking just about their beauty, but about how the make-up artist managed to make them look almost unrecognizable. But that’s about it.

Scary Movie 5 (2013)

anglais This was the last Scary Movie I hadn’t seen and I thought I should watch it, if only because I liked to watch the prequels. But now I know that I’ve made one crucial mistake when I was watching this movie; I haven’t drunk a whole barrel of a 14° beer that would have knocked me out of consciousness and so I would have been able to sit through this disaster thanks to being black out drunk.
