Anne des 1000 jours (1969)

anglais Another unique historical affair with Richard Burton (I recently saw Becket) and of course not only with him. Geneviève Bujold as Anne Boleyn is his equal counterpart, so equal that it surprised me. Both actors gave their absolute all to their characters, making the king and queen believable in every scene, in every mood... And the same is true of the rest of the cast, although the central duo overshadows its members. There is passion, love, disappointment, hope, fear - there is probably no emotion that is not present in Anne of the Thousand Days. An amazing spectacle.__P.S. Great TV dubbing from 1977. Richard Burton with the voice of Luděk Munzar is a safe bet.

Silvestr na přání aneb Čí jsou hory Kavčí (1977) (émission)

anglais A number of absolutely great scenes that are legendary without any exaggeration and rightfully belong to that golden fund of television entertainment. But ideally there should be just those scenes and not some other numbers, especially the dance numbers, which I'll probably never enjoy. Comparisons to today's New Year's Eve programs hurt.

Les Rebelles de la forêt 2 (2008)

anglais Considerably worse than the first one. With the change of director, Open Season lost its greatest asset: the relentless barrage of verbal and visual gags that made me like the first one so much. It’s a shame.

Slava's Snowshow (2010) (pièce de théâtre filmée)

anglais A magical hour packed with imagination and ideas that literally enchanted me. For many people, pantomime means something they don't think they would understand, something that is too complicated, and most importantly, something that doesn't involve talking for an hour or more, and that automatically feels like boredom to them. But it depends on the mimes. Yes, many of them are quite simple and can do nothing but perform suicides and other bloated etudes (Woody Allen wrote a great short story about them) or lurk insidiously on the streets and scare pedestrians. But then there are also the successfully funny ones - and that includes Slava Polunin. He and his cronies run amok like, say, Boris Hybner and Bolek Polívka in their best years, the scenes are full of humor and a nice atmosphere... Yes, he gets a little sad now and then, but he soon turns it around again. I can only recommend this show to everyone who likes to have fun. If you are going to laugh, don't be afraid of silence while watching it.

Pohádka z šafránové louky (1980) (téléfilm)

anglais As long as the plot revolves around elves, Pohádka ze šafránové louky is great. Especially the bearded Petr Nárožný is (again) really great and his tales are a joy to listen to. But the second half of the fairy tale with the shepherd and his chosen one is unfortunately neither interesting nor funny. But it's still an enjoyable watch.

Les Rebelles de la forêt (2006)

anglais A very frantic cartoon, which may not be to everyone's taste, but it was the franticness that won me over. There is simply an irresistible anarchy in this forest, the animals are different levels of crazy, and some of them should be locked up in a zoo instead of a pasture. What does it matter that the bear and the deer remind too much of a certain ogre and a certain donkey? I really enjoyed all the crazy shenanigans and everything that can be (rightly) criticized about Open Season didn't matter to me.

affiche

Alaska (1996)

anglais Beautiful scenery, a likeable and believable Thora Birch, and Charlton Heston, who handled the role with relative dignity, although he is a typically simple villain from children's films. That’s it.

affiche

The Shadow Riders (1982) (téléfilm)

anglais A watchable western, above average by TV standards, mainly thanks to the likeable badass duo of Sam Elliot and Tom Selleck. What didn't please me at all was the terrible music, which didn't fit in many scenes at all, and then some naive moments like "someone is running on the beach, ten people shoot at him and don't hit him" or "someone disguises himself and thinks that the bad guys who imprisoned him a while ago won't recognize him"...

affiche

Le Manoir hanté et les 999 fantômes (2003)

anglais It would be nice to have more humor, especially black humor... This way, you wait for forty-five minutes before some real ghosts appear and something finally starts to happen (the carriage ride to the mausoleum and everything that happens there is clearly the best part of the film). Yes, Terence Stamp made a couple of very good horror appearances behind someone who wasn't expecting him, and yes, I liked Mark Mancina's music, and the singing heads were perfect. There was just not enough of everything and the rest was so boring.

Arizona Junior (1987)

anglais It seems that it can be done without dead bodies. The Coens excel again, both in terms of script and direction. Raising Arizona is a typically quirky spectacle by them, full of amazing crazy characters and memorable scenes. Apart from the big diaper robbery, I will particularly remember for a long time John Goodman and his buddy escaping from prison, the hellish biker who probably came from some post-apocalyptic spaghetti western, the fight in the caravan, the wonderful ending... Heck, I'll remember the whole movie!__P.S. I saw the dubbed TV version, but it didn't ruin the experience for me. I'm sure it was also thanks to the fact that Nicolas Cage spoke in Ondřej Vetchý's voice.
