Princess Hours: rak wunwun chao ying chom chun (2017) (série)

anglais No progress. Childish. Tedious. Boring. I found almost all the characters except the grandmother unsympathetic. The music didn't grab me either. I was looking forward to it, thinking it would be good, just like when the Thais did a remake of Full House, that here as well they'd be a lot better than the Koreans. Nope. It's a hot mess. A great big disappointment.

Oboreru Knife (2016)

anglais At one point it has a beautiful picture, at another it kills itself with terrible transitions, at one point it affects the viewer a lot, at another it leaves them untouched, at one point Komatsu acts well, the other time you don't know if you trust her as far as you can throw her... I haven't seen such a terribly unbalanced film in a long time. I could go on at length about what the bard might have wanted to tell us, but I don't think it makes sense. Maybe I saw something in it, maybe I wanted to see something in it, but in the end it was still useless to me because I walked away from the film feeling like I didn't really know if I liked it. For the vast majority of the time, I wasn't actually enjoying it. 50%.

Hokusai to meši saereba (2017) (série)

anglais Cooking for students. With a weird college girl who prefers to spend time with her stuffed animal instead of people. And he's fine because he pesters her and treats her the way a parent would. It's kind of weird, but with a meal it might be a bonus for some, but no added value for me. Suitable before dinner, at most during dinner. After all, you might get hungry. Quiet, not headed anywhere. I found it uninteresting.

Boku, unmei no hito desu (2017) (série)

anglais The acting was fine, the bromance (Kame and Jamapi) is great, but it left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. After a great ninth episode, the tenth one was just kind of a slap in the face. It's not bad, it's a pleasure to see these two clowns together again, they're awfully good together and it's worth checking out for that alone. I just thought it was a bit tired. It's not bad, it's watchable, it's great for relaxing, but it doesn't have any sparkle. Kimura is cute. The boys are cute too. The people are nice, nothing really happens, it's all civil but "supernatural". It won't get your adrenaline pumping.

Moratoriamu Tamako (2013)

anglais You finish college, you don't know what to do with your life. So you move in with your dad and hope the change will just sort of happen. That what you could be doing will present itself to you. Plus, your dad is making you suffer. At first you don't know, you're floundering, then suddenly you get up and start doing a little something. You might even think of something to do, but who knows. Your father is still suffering from your laxity and you end up quite satisfied, though actually dissatisfied. A film about wallowing in ignorance and laziness. And something like this just doesn't have a twist, just a promise. The film made sense to me, but it didn't impress me all that much. If you're a fan of Atsuko, you'll enjoy her a lot in this. It kind of felt like Atsuko was hungry, so she decided to make this movie because it fed her pretty well.

The Closer : L.A. Enquêtes prioritaires (2005) (série)

anglais I'm constantly watching Closer now, I'm on the fourth season and I'm still enjoying it. Some episodes are weaker, some are absolutely excellent, but altogether I am enjoying it. I like the venomous viper that knows when to bite. The episodes move fast, the blonde with the cut mouth knows how to divide up the tasks, she goes after it no matter the cost... that's what I like about her. Because she really is the head of the department, she knows what to do, and I find that awfully likeable. To me, one of the better crime shows on the air.

A Street Cat Named Bob (2016)

anglais I like movies with a positive message. You can be anything if you want it and you have someone to help you through it. It doesn't matter if it's a human or a random redheaded cat. A movie that certainly doesn't particularly speak to the situation of addicts or the homeless, on the other hand maybe someone will start to care because of it. Plus, it's a cat movie, and that's what's hot right now; after all, cats are supposedly good for helping people de-stress. Nothing special about the film, but it can't hurt to watch it.

Quartet (2017) (série)

anglais Good acting. A good quality relationship film, Sakamoto Yuji is still going strong. Excellent background music. Interesting story. Suspense. Worth a look. But if you're expecting a music series focused mainly on how the quartet is doing and how they're overcoming all the obstacles in the music world... you might get burned. This is about the quartet, the four of them, not about classical music. But the first episode doesn't do much to impress.

Ore monogatari!! (2015) (série)

anglais What I really liked about this Shōjo is that we go through the “I like her but she surely doesn't like me - I like him but he surely doesn't like me" cycle at the beginning, but then it manages to break free and we get to watch a relationship between two naive high school kids. And their wise "daddy" Sun. This is what made it different for me from those other Shōjos where professing and accepting love takes a whole 24 episodes. Of course it's a bit cliched, but it didn't matter here because everything was used in moderation, except for Takeo's size, which was a great fun element. A good diversion that doesn't offend. A weaker 4 stars.

Destruction Babies (2016)

anglais Another film full of violence. The young have no place. Some have it harder than others. A bleak place. Violence. So many combinations of these have been made and many more are sure to come, as a sense of bleakness runs rampant in Japanese veins. Still! This film doesn't have much to offer in that regard. It may be full of stars, it's just perfectly cast, but it gave me absolutely nothing. It may have a point, but I find it weak. I was bored while watching it. I'm not a fan of this kind of mindless, senseless violence, and certainly not in this form. But if you want a grim movie full of blows... go for it.
