Pathfinder - Le sang du guerrier (2007) Boo !

anglais Norwegians, like a bunch of hobnailed predators, hippie Indians, and Karl Urban, half-naked, rides under majestic mountain peaks. Only old Homolka with a two-handed ax, praising the panoramas, is missing. Nispel is a loser who can scare you in all manner of ways, especially through his complete amateurism. Unwatchable bullshit.

Good Morning England (2009)

anglais Funny and nice bubblegum about the golden sixties, which inadvertently depicts the revolutionary era so correctly and ironically that it brings itself down. Over time, Curtis falls into a stereotype and the repainted visual serves the symbols of the 1960s completely devoid of any provocativeness and sex appeal. Nevertheless, excellent actors and a great soundtrack keep this ship afloat, although the bloated finale is noticeably embarrassing [70%]

Havárie (1985)

anglais A lean thing, to some extent without exaggeration. An excellent portrait of normalization hopelessness, where the protagonist has no choice but to either tread in the wheel of a state enterprise or to start moonlighting. Due to the fact that ideology is almost not present here verbally, the film feels very disgusting, gray and desperate. Of course, with its plot it mainly moralizes the story of a man who was ruined. But you can take it with a smile on your lips and instead focus on an atmosphere that is truly done well. I like how this bullshit unintentionally reveals the very essence of the decline of the 1980s.

The Mist (2007)

anglais If I set aside the slightly B-movie effects, The Mist shows some of the greatest viabilities of King adaptations. An intimate and elegantly universal metaphor with one of the best endings the screen has ever seen...

affiche

La Légende de Beowulf (2007)

anglais The action sections are reminiscent of a slightly above-average computer game intro (although even here the creators could learn a lot, for example from the intro of The Witcher), the characters are inhumanely bulbous, the horses roll like fates, and the moments when emotions are supposed to radiate from the animation completely miss the mark. Which is actually a shame, because otherwise Beowulf is quite a nice and surprisingly not entirely clichéd heroic epic – if it is judged by the standards of Hollywood. It has decent music and a good atmosphere in places, but the animation absolutely fails with regard to reviving the world "offscreen". Beowulf is a horribly narrow film that lives only in a small section of the camera; otherwise, it resembles an indifferent thing that fatally lacks persuasiveness.

affiche

Will Hunting (1997)

anglais The two hunks did a good job writing it, although superficially, and where psychology was not enough, they provided proven phrases like "follow your heart". In the end, however, this drama about the search for the meaning of life also offers quite a moving resolution. What’s more, Van Sant directed it gently, with feeling and plenty of space for excellent actors... Even though Good Will Hunting bubbles like simple lemonade, it is able to amuse and has a decent impact.

Jusqu'en enfer (2009)

anglais An excellent ride, during which one laughs at times at the admitted and intensified nonsense, and at times catches their breath during brilliantly shot jump scares. Raimi has still got it, and Drag Me To Hell is nothing but living proof that when someone has a gift, they will scare you at anytime, and in any way. A wonderful adrenaline injection and, as strange as it may sound, a very pleasant film. Pure pleasure, but I'm honestly scared about tonight... :o) [85%]

Coco avant Chanel (2009)

anglais Cultured, conservative, and horribly mannerist. That might not be a problem, but aren't these the very traits that Coco Chanel fought against with her work? From my point of view, Anne Fontaine has simply reduced the personality of the revolutionary to a middle-class spectacle for the readers of style magazines.

affiche

I Love You, Man (2009)

anglais Segel and Rudd are harmonious and convincing, the situation is appropriately awkward, and even though in the end it has the same stupid outpourings that can be found in forgettable love comedies, the slight subversion makes them bearable. Although I Love You, Man pokes fun at family members, the fact remains that the film could have made fun of itself a bit more...

affiche

Coraline (2009)

anglais A very pleasant island of stop motion imperfection in a sophisticated flood of silicon superhumans. Beautiful animation further enhanced by the 3rd dimension, very poetic decadent drollery and a very nice atmosphere. It's unfortunate that the musical accompaniment does not captivate as much as Elfman's songs once did. Coraline is more infantile than Burton's work and it doesn't have the sharp verbal humor, but despite all the plush, it is able bite nicely. I had a great time. [85%]
