The Old Blunderbuss Mystery 2

The highwayman Karaba has to get back into action, because mischief starts happening in the kingdom where his daughter rules along with the king. Little does he know that the evil advisors from the last film are setting a trap for him. And that he'll have to deal with love. This sequel is an inoffensive fairy tale that might deserve cautious praise on TV, but is lacking in narrative and, above all, rather chaotically put together, predictable and ordinary for cinema. The Old Blunderbuss Mystery 2 should have been released directly in TV rather than passing itself off as a cinema film, as it still feels quite TV-like and doesn't offer much that could stand out on the big screen. Except for Tomáš Klus’s monkey, I practically didn't smile, the action-adventure line didn't work much either and the romance between Ondřej Vetchý and Veronika Khek Kubařová made a rather dull impression on me. Jiří Lábus and Miroslav Vladyka basically just parody their characters from the first film and Markéta Plánková was not funny. The result is utterly wasted potential, drowning in an overwrought execution. A sequel that somewhat feels like a dagger in the back. (25/12/2022)

La magie du premier volet s’est nettement évaporée. Les réparties et sous-entendus politiques sont toujours au rendez-vous, mais l’histoire principale se dissout dans l’ennui et la morosité. Et même les chansons et les acteurs connus ne relèvent pas le niveau. Veronika Kubařová en reine malchanceuse fait plaisir à voir, mais c’est à peu près tout. J’espère que demain, j’aurai droit à un meilleur conte avec Krakonoš. (25/12/2022)

If the first movie doesn't appeal to me, a second installment usually won't do much to change that. Of course, there are exceptions, but the sequel to Tajemství staré bambitky isn't one of them. Again, the dialogue was rather pathetic. I'm not a big fan of constant singing in fairy tales, and here the lyrics bothered me as well. The little princess wasn't very convincing, but at least she demonstrated that progress is unstoppable because zipping up her mouth was simply magical :-) / Lesson learned: Don't pour water over a tea bag that has already been used.
