Two discredited Naval officers try to avoid self-destruction after being blamed for the heavy loss at Pearl Harbor. The one takes on a suicide mission to restore his honor. The other leads a fleet in a counterattack, comes out wounded, and is nursed by his ex-wife. (texte officiel du distributeur)

The kind of movie that has everything it should have. It's due to its rich runtime, which perhaps inflated Preminger's work a bit too much. It's a war drama, it's sometimes comedic, it's about relationships, and it’s emotional and sad, but there are also strong heroes and a proper villain. Kirk Douglas is incredibly intriguing in this regard, and his character is simply great, especially because of how he played him. ()
