(Optimale)

anglais Closet Monster tells the story of growing up, first loves, coming out and the importance of family, which unfortunately is not a choice. The beginning of the film was really raw, and in fact, there were some harsh (and in a way metaphorical) scenes throughout the plot that you don't usually see in films like this. I definitely have to give a shout out to the incredible soundtrack. However, I found the film too bizarre and out of place at times, both in a good and bad way. ()

anglais I guess the director felt that he had to show his feelings in an expressionist manner and he had to push them out into the world. You see the movie Closet Monster is at times very specific and obvious to the point that some of the moments didn’t make me feel to good and I would have appreciated it if the director had left those out. On the other hand, the film told the story of a boy who isn’t entirely normal, but who is by no means evil. He is simply trying to survive in today’s world at a time when we didn’t have to worry about the afterlife. That by itself is no easy thing and I tip my hat off to the actors for their performances. I also appreciate the soundtrack – it was absolutely amazing. The comparisons to the Italian movie Suburra are entirely justified. I wish there were more electronic music soundtracks similar to this one. The ending was really amazing, but what preceded it was at times boring and at other times nothing that I would like to watch again. ()

anglais A very interesting approach to the theme of homosexuality, but more broadly also to the overall uncertainties of adolescence in the position of a person who doesn't have one parent, and the other one is a jerk. I have to admit, even more intriguing was the surrealistic and almost fantastical interpretation of the whole story, which truly captivated and fascinated me. ()
