Tainted Souls

The lives of the tenants of a working-class apartment building on the outskirts intersect against a backdrop of crime, urban speculation, confused feelings and tainted relationships. Marcello, a bisexual former body builder married to Chiara, has an affair with the bourgeois professor Walter; the ambitious and cold-blooded dealer Mauro and his wife Simona get involved in the shady business of the local mobster Carmine. The corrupt powers-that-be invade an overlooked swath of the slums, contaminating the lives of a group of lost souls. (Venice International Film Festival)
