I had slightly mixed feelings about the first episode, but then I got totally absorbed in the series. I see it as an excellent drama with elements of thriller about a fight of a bunch of losers around Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton) against a nearly omnipotent defense corporation, represented by the law firm of his long-time nemesis, Donald Cooperman (William Hurt). The season had an excellent atmosphere almost all along, it included a number of cunning twists and very decent to excellent acting performances. I was a little disappointed by the outcome of the trial, which was fortunately not the last scene and it turned out much better in the end. I would definitely highlight the soundtrack and the excellent opening credits.
