Little Feather

Little Feather wants to be a raw social drama, but in order to achieve the effectiveness of the Dardenne brothers' works or the emotional impact of British socially critical films, the creators would have to significantly improve both the script and the direction. The supporting characters are shallow, the acting performances uneven, and the scenes of sexual slavery unnecessarily literal, with an apparent effort to shock the viewer and potential festival jury with shocking, drastic shots. The presence and commitment of the original Dominika Zeleníková is a positive, but if I were ever willing to consider giving it three stars, the final seven minutes are so disarming that in the end, the author duo can be thankful for my overall impression of 40%. The ending of the film shifts what has been seen before to a completely different narrative plane. I wouldn't look for comedy in it, but rather a loss of authorial judgment... (09/01/2019)

Je me demande pourquoi la mignonne et sympathique Dominika Zeleníková doit toujours subir des violences dans les films. Ça fait la deuxième fois de suite que je la vois se faire brutaliser de façon cruelle. Pourtant, ce ne sont pas des hommes, mais bien des femmes derrière la caméra. Bizarre. Quoi qu’il en soit, c’est un film d’une grande qualité artistique, extrêmement cru et naturaliste, qui traite d’une réalité douloureuse et d’un cercle vicieux desquels il n’est possible de sortir que par un miracle.
