Following his wedding, Feri left the co-operative and is now working on the land of his father-in-law. Tóth is extremely wilful and thrifty, working from early morning to late night, pushing his family as well. Feri has repeatedly quarrelled with him, because he waters milk. The old man is at war with his son, too, as Jani is courting the daughter of the co-op chairman. The lovers meet secretly. Feri stays on in the house of his father-in-law only because his pregnant wife begs him to. Jani, following an ugly quarrel, leaves his parental home. The council chairman puts him up and promises him to let him enter the co-op. Tóth enters even his daughter into work, and the exhausted Gizi suffers an accident. Feri makes up his mind; they will not stay here any longer, but move into his father's house. (texte officiel du distributeur)
