Lola on the Pea

Lola lives with her mother on a house boat called "The Pea". She's been an outsider at school since her father's disappearance and she wants nothing to change until he returns. Two events soon tear her from her loneliness. One is that her mother has a new boyfriend named Kurt. The other is Rebin, a mysterious new student in her class; he's a Kurd living illegally in Germany with his parents. The two children slowly become friends, but when Rebin's mother falls ill and can't visit a regular doctor, Lola asks help from Kurt, the only doctor Lola trusts. But the next day Rebin and his family are gone, and Lola is convinced she has done everything wrong. (Zlín Film Festival)
