Garnett, ancien membre d'un gang du Nouveau Mexique vient de passer 18 ans en prison pour meurtre. Avec l'aide d'Emily Smith, agent de probation chargée de sa mise à l'épreuve, il tente de se réinsérer et de reprendre une vie normale. Mais Garnett est vite rattrapé par son passé. Forest Whitaker delivers another one of his excellent performances, which is undoubtedly the highlight of this film, a remake of an older French piece. It's well set up, but it reaches its conclusion in a way that's too straightforward and too clear-cut. Suddenly, it loses its emotion, and what was set up is just a game, nothing more. In the end, it felt too detached from reality and too focused on the actors.
