Jîn lives in the middle of a forest in an almost supernatural connection with nature. But the seventeen-year-old girl is trying to escape from the area where the war between the Turkish government and Kurdish partisans has been raging for several decades, and she gets entangled in the troubles of the world around. Reha Erdem, who belongs to the contemporary generation of distinctive Turkish filmmakers, brings to mind fairy-tale motifs in his latest film, especially to Red Riding Hood, yet he remains faithful to the tradition of lyrical cinema where long, silent shots of nature express more than a stream of words. The intoxicating images tell a universal story of a cunning girl, flowing in a tempo as hypnotic as its minimalistic musical undertones. (Febiofest)
