Living Together

An average high school romance set in Japan, with nice scenes, a good actor, and a bad actress. It's hard to tell if it's the director, but despite Ayame giving a fairly solid performance in Black Butler, she was completely unconvincing here. When she was crying, that was possibly the worst. By way of comparison, Kento was convincing, not exactly flawless or first class, but definitely much better than Ayame (plus he was playing a completely different character than he had played in Jinx!!! and you could really tell the difference). Kiriyama Ren was added weight in the film to give it some momentum at the end – he got stuck with a completely undeveloped character (all the supporting characters were flat like that, by the way). Despite these criticisms, it's not a terrible film, just filler fit for an empty schedule. A weak 3 stars. (24/10/2014)
