Takeshi Kitano is the Japanese filmmaker I’m most familiar with. And since I know him mostly in terms of Japanese mafia practices, I was really curious to see what this incredibly quiet movie would be like. And it was just like Cinemax said – it was so quiet that if I fell asleep during the movie, not a single scene would wake me up throughout those 101 minutes. In any case, the romantic atmosphere of people’s relationship with the sea and connecting through surfing was really pleasant, hypnotic, almost. Which is also what made me watch till the end, although I probably wouldn’t last a second time. ()
