Civil war has come to an end. Nursed back to health by a young Uzbek woman, an Uzbek officer in the Red Army promptly marries her. Together with the Bolsheviks, the officer wishes to modernise the village – in this connection he calls for the female inhabitants to put aside their veils. However, his own wife and saviour is prevented from doing so by her strict father. Seeking to set a good example, a girl from the village heeds the Red Army soldier's call, only to be assassinated in revenge. A region caught between the drive towards modernity and rigid long-reigning traditions. (goEast - Festival des mittel- und osteuropäischen Films)
