Juli is a 30-year-old divorcée and an unemployed press-photographer. With Peter, his son at fifth grade, and Csaba, her lover, a student, she lives as a sub-tenant. Her conflicts are more and more permanent, due to her country trips as a photographer and her nights spent in the bath-room developing films. She makes desperate but hopeless attempts to get a permanent job and establish an independent home, even willing to make compromising photographs for the purposes of blackmailing. At her mother-in-laws request she lets her son visit her divorced husband in Germany. As she hears nothing from him either by mail or by telephone, she sells her only wealth, her camera, and travels to see him. At the address in Munich she finds an empty and abandoned house.
