Sri Lankan director, Sanjeewa Pushpakumara makes his film debut building three independent stories against the background of civil war. He observes his characters with a detached eye, with attention to visual detail, image composition and depiction of the tropical landscape. Themes of forbidden desire or ethnic conflict gradually arise in long silent shots. There is no need for music or words to depict a country afflicted by war and struggling with its own traditions, the eye of the camera encompasses all of these. Although we don't learn much about the characters and the individual storylines never intersect, the power of the moment is very intense. (Febiofest)
