Arthur Parkinson's high school band practice is interrupted by the terrible noise of gunfire, announcing the tragedy that will devastate his small Northeastern hometown. Annie Marchand, Arthur's one-time babysitter and the object of his childhood adoration, is a beautiful and impetuous young woman whose life hasn't turned out right.
