Although most of the footage was shot by Géza von Bolváry, officially it is his master, Béla Balogh, who is credited as the director. The story about the social decline of a family, culminating with a tragic death, is typical of Balogh and his persuasion of the necessity to reform the society. Even today, it is an extremely intense film. (Summer Film School)
