The director of The Man from Del Rio decided that when he has a man like Anthony Quinn in the lead role, there's no need to complicate things, and the film will simply focus on him and his character. That indeed happened, and a western was made that doesn't have very high ambitions, but it shows that Anthony Quinn can easily handle the lead role even with a less successful screenplay and still captivate you.
