Pongrácz, an employee of the railway company and participant of the movement called "two thousand tons", is killed in what looks to be an accident. Szabó, his friend, having found the workbook, goes on with the fight. However, Molnár, a chief engineer, employed by the railway company, is preparing for another attempt at disrupting the company's operation, following the instructions of Mr. Knock, now in Hungary. Involved in the planned act of sabotage are Faragó, a drunkard, and Farkas, a war criminal. Patkós, major with the ÁVH, Fábri Éva, a political officer, Szabó and all the others are now alert: not only do they reveal the plot and the plotters in time, but also help the movement of "two thousand tons" be a success.
