Posse feels like the western Kirk Douglas had been dreaming of, especially since he produced and directed it himself. That said, the lack of a memorable score and the heavy focus on dialogue make it feel a bit flat at times, and the plot isn't the most exciting. Still, the characters and sweeping landscapes hit all the right notes for classic American western fans, even if it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the genre’s best. ()
