Europe is Far Away

Petru lives with his parents working in academic professions in a mountain village of Rumania. His father, the internationally renown scientist, is pursued by the Securitate, and the family has to leave the country upon trumped-up charges. They cross the Maros in a boat to Hungary, and they cross the border to Austria in the long-vehicle of a man-smuggler, who in the meantime steals the documents of the father. They find their way to a refugee-camp, from where adults are forced to return to Rumania. Petru runs away. After many adventures, he ends up in a village of Bavaria, in the home of a German couple. As his parents arrive in Germany with an official visa entitling them to settle down in Germany, their only remaining task is to find Petru. (texte officiel du distributeur)
