As an isolated maternity nurse living in 1985 suburban London, takes a moment of solace to make her traditional condensed milk pudding, burnt milk, she is flooded with spiritual imagery that takes her back to Jamaica. Burnt Milk connects the power of loss and the pain of isolation with the need for private ritual as a means of cultural survival, and personal evolution for the diaspora community.
