A young maid, Szabó Mária, made pregnant by the estate steward, is dismissed by the landlady and goes through the ordeal of being treated as an outlaw of the village community. She heads for the city, where she ends up in a cafe, working among "those girls", who kind-heartedly give her support and refuge, a place to give birth to her baby girl. The union of ladies for the "defence of moral values" does, however, manage to take away her baby. Completely abandoned, now she is on her breaking point. Only death can end her suffering. In her afterlife existence she keeps a watchful eye on her daughter, who is close to being seduced in the same way as she was 15 years before. Mária then produces a heavy rainfall to prevent her daughter from becoming a victim of the same destiny as that of her mother. (texte officiel du distributeur)
