(Metropolitan FilmExport)

The concept itself captures deep human emotions, something Akira Kurosawa mastered long ago. The British took this essence, added a touch of old-world aristocratic charm, and cast the absolutely brilliant Bill Nighy in the lead role. While the first half’s slow pace might lull you to sleep, the second half rewards you with an emotional rollercoaster that makes it all worthwhile. ()
