The last film with Zatoichi that Shintaro Katsu directed, and also one of his last films overall. After 1990, he didn't film anymore. It shows here that even as a director he was able to adopt new methods and, most importantly, he made a film that is not stuck in the past, but is more modern, more action-packed than its predecessors, and technically better. This is not nostalgia, but a full-fledged sequel. ()
