anglais This is not a particularly substantial rural drama, but rather blood and soil starring Magda Schneider. Magda has a secret love affair with Viktor Staal, the classic Paul Wegener stands out among the older generation, and Rolf Wanka (this time wearing a decent mustache) acts as Deus ex machina. However, the film is only available in poor quality and in an incomplete version, which spoils the last joy of this almost ancient tragedy. However, it's good to see a less typical film again for most of the people involved. Magda, for example, used to be a typical representative of a rather urban girl before she became, together with Wolf Albach-Retty, a classic heroine from the old golden days. Viktor often changed partners of the highest luminosity and, in addition to Magda, often found himself alongside such stars as Anny Ondra, Zarah Leander, Lilian Harvey, or Marika Rökk. We don't have to introduce Rolf. After his departure from Czech cinema, he lost some of his quantity and besides his experience from France and Italy, he did only minimal filmmaking and devoted himself more to musical theater, which he did together with his wife. That is why each of the films he made in the 1940s are treasures, and The Right to Love thus forms a sort of partition to this film chapter of his. ()
