My Friend Joe

Chris is a 13-year-old boy who has been unsuccessful in trying to join a gang of boys until he meets Joe, who can do the most awesome stunts on his mountain bike and who succeeds in getting him in the gang. Chris is a nice but shy kid who has never had a real friend before and he and Joe become best friends. We soon discover, however, that Joe is actually a girl who dresses up as a boy in order to conceal the fact that she is from a travelling circus where she is being exploited by her trainer Curt as part of a high-wire act. Her only friend in the circus is Simon who used to be Curt´s trainer. (Zlín Film Festival)
