Biographie

Born in Iran, Nima Fakhrara is a Los Angeles-based film composer.
His first experience with music was listening to his uncle play the santour. This influenced him to study the instrument, and became he well-versed in Persian classical music. After moving to the United States, he attended California State University Northridge, where he obtained his degree in composition studies. However, his interest in music was not limited to composition and performance; he studied ethnomusicology, anthropology, and how to construct instruments, which has enhanced the signature sound(s) in his scores. He samples and uses instruments from many regions of the world, with these new sounds being layered in alongside orchestral and ambient textures. In 2009, he opened Sound and Vision Creatives, a creative base for he and key collaborators.
Mr. Fakhrara's feature film scores included the ones for Gatchaman, directed by Tôya Satô, which is a live-action take on the anime series Battle of the Planets; Site 146, directed by Grégory Levasseur, starring Denis O'Hare and Ashley Hinshaw; Exists, directed by Eduardo Sanchez and written by Jamie Nash; Removal, directed by Nick Simon and starring Billy Burke; and award-winning director Hany Abu-Assad's The Courier, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
