Biographie
Silvio Caiozzi was born in Santiago, Chili. He studied film and television in the United States. He served as director of photography on several feature films and has directed musicals, comedies, documentaries and variety shows for television. He produced and directed JULIO COMIENZA EN JULIO/ JULIO BEGINS IN JULY (1977), selected for the filmmaker's fortnight at Cannes. His later films were also internationally acclaimed, among those are HISTORIA DE UN ROBLE SOLO/ STORY OF A LONE OAK (1982), LA LUNA EN EL ESPEJO/ THE MOON IN THE MIRROR (1990, prize for the best female role at Venice FF), FERNANDO HA VUELTO/ FERNANDO'S BACK (1998), CORONACIÓN/ CORONATION (2000) etc. Silvio Caiozzi has been president of the Association of Chilean Filmmakers and jury member at many festivals.
