Biographie
Shanghai, 1965. He studied at the Peking film academy, and achieved international recognition with his second feature length film, Suzhou River (1995), an outstanding piece in oriental neonoir. Titles like Purple Butterfly (2003) and Summer Palace (2006) have made him a regular at all the big festivals.
