Biographie

An Emmy-winning, and a three-time Latin Grammy nominee Mexican director and producer. After graduating from film school at the University of Guadalajara (DIS), he founded the production company Cobra Films, where he has produced films, documentaries, and miniseries in Mexico, the United States, Europe, and Latin America. He directed the 2023 Emmy-winning documentary Diana Flores: La campeona de Nextitla, a touching story that resonated with audiences worldwide; as well as Chivas, la película, a documentary depicting the saga of Mexico's most iconic and representative soccer team.

Additionally, he served as executive producer for Amazon Prime’s original series Chivas: el rebaño sagrado, which was nominated for Best Sports Documentary at the 2022 IEMMYS. Rubén has been nominated three times as a director at the Latin Grammys for documentaries such as Making the Album, by Maná; Soltando al perro, by Jesse & Joy; De Cuba para Iztapalapa, by Los Ángeles Azules; Compass, by Camilo Lara and Toy Selectah; Un azteca en el Azteca, by Vicente Fernández; and Un mundo raro: canciones de José Alfredo Jiménez. He also served as executive producer for the film Cigüeñas. In 2024, Rubén premiered the documentary El sueño de cieneguitas.
